Road or trail shoes?
The first section is flat, fast constructed track. If you consider that lots of folk do the whole West Highland Way race in road shoes, I think you would be fine with them here. I guess it all depends on weather conditions leading up to the event. If we had lots of rain then there could be sections that may be quite slippy and trail shoes would offer a little more traction.
Will the route be clearly marked?
Yes, there will be Clyde Stride markers at prominent points throughout the route. They are laminated A4 signs with the logo clearly visible. Outwith the race the route is sparsley marked. Carry a map or description for any reccy runs.
Will there be mile markers?
No, as this is a long distance trail race permission would be needed from the many various land owners. Route map is available in the links section with the distance markers clearly marked. There will also be three checkpoints along the route to which will enable some indication of progress.
Will there be marshalls other than at the check points?
There will be marshalls dotted across the route. There is a couple of pedestrian crossings which we will have manned to smooth the way. Marshalls cannot stop traffic.
Will I get my stuff back from checkpoints?
It is not recommended that you put anything of value in your dropbacgs. Where possible any leftover items will be transported to the finish. It should be pointed out however, this may be some considerable time after you have completed the race and cannot be guarenteed.
A small bag may be left at registration for transport directly to the finish. Race organisers will not be responsible for any items of value eg car keys or mobile phones.
Is there a bus from the finish to the train station in Lanark?
Yes, a scheduled service runs from outside the Visitor Centre. The price is not included in the entry fee.

Can I get a train back to Glasgow or Partick?
Yes, there is a direct service to Glasgow. You can find the timetable here.
Can I stay over after the race?
Yes, a few beds are still available for the post race dinner and party. Please email the race address for more information.
